Articles News General Cupcake mad robot controlled by Google phone

So you are thinking I'd love to see a cup caking loving robot controlled by the Linux-based Google Android phone? Well look no further than Jeffrey Nelson's robot Forknife. Armed with servo controlled plastic cutlery no tasty cake is safe. The original Forknife used an Arduino microcontroller as its brain and communicated with the G1 phone using DTMF tones (those beeps you here where you dial an number on a phone) and wirelessly with a remote computer. All the code is available licensed under GPL, so you can try it out for yourself. Not happy with that? Well Forknife 2 might wet your appetite further. This time he has combined the SRV-1 Blackfin camera board with the Google phone. The SRV-1 Blackfin camera board is a great piece of kit which allows for wireless streaming of video over wifi back to the G1 phone and he uses the phones tilt sensors to manoeuvre the robot about. He also added lasers ... sure why not.
